Does busyness consume you? Are you caught in the torrents of life’s rapid currents? Do you struggle to bob your head above the sweltering waters and demands of measuring up, providing, or accomplishing?

If so, today’s word will apply–WAIT!

Personally, I don’t like to wait. I find action more fulfilling and empowering, at least in my fleshly nature. I become frustrated if someone is running late…and even more upset if I’m the one running late. When I hear God’s voice I instantly run to the battle or expect results, immediately.

But what happens when results don’t happen instantaneously? Then what?

Again, we must WAIT!

G. Campbell Morgan puts it this way, “Waiting for God is not laziness. Waiting for God is not going to sleep. Waiting for God is not the abandonment of effort. Waiting for God means, first, activity under command; second, readiness for any new command that may come; third, the ability to do nothing until the command is given.”

Noah heard God’s voice and responded immediately. He worked. He obeyed. And, saw God’s fulfillment approximately 100 years later.

Abraham heard God’s promise…tried to figure out God’s plan…made a huge mistake…but eventually (at the age of 100) received God’s fulfilled promise.

David was anointed as the future King of Israel…but wasn’t positioned in the palace until about 15 years later. So, how about that middle ground of waiting? What do you do, while you wait for God?

Lamentations 3:22-26 says, “Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.” (NIV)

So, today, if you find yourself STUCK in a PATTERN of waiting…

Remember God’s great love for you.
Remember that He is compassionate and will not fail you.
Remember He is faithful.
Remember He is your inheritance for ALL eternity.
Remember He is good to all who hope in Him and seek Him.
Waiting has a way of stripping me from SELF and teaches me to…

Willfully
Abandon
“I“
Tendencies
